Providence Canyon is referred to by most as the "Baby Grand Canyon". This is an incredible place to pack a lunch and venture out around for a day. You can walk around the very outskirts of the canyon as well as hike down into the bottom and explore through all of the different legs of it. The scenery is amazing.
When I was out exploring through the woods by the top of the canyon, I came across several rusty cars and trucks from the 50's that look like they had been sitting there since then. If you go there at the very start of the morning during the week, there's a good chance that you'll have the place to yourself, and the feeling is serene. They also allow you to camp there primitively, but if that's not your style, there are plentiful amounts of campgrounds around that will accomodate your electricity and bathroom having style.
